Burna Boy fans conflicted over US shows after viral videos showed 'poor attendance'

Afrobeats superstar Burna Boy is at the centre of a heated online debate after a section of videos from his latest U.S. concerts showed underwhelming attendance.

Clips circulating widely on social media over the weekend appeared to show swathes of empty upper-level seats during his Houston concert, igniting fresh speculation about the stability of his once-unshakable star power.

One concerned fan wrote, "Burna Boy is getting a lot of backlash and getting cancelled after kicking fans out of his Denver show for sleeping. Is this the beginning of the end of his career?"

However, different videos seen online painted a strikingly contrasting image.

In one of the videos, the arena is seen glowing with coordinated wristbands, lower sections packed, and fans dancing and singing along to the Grammy winner's hits.

The contrasting videos divided opinion online, with some insisting the turnout was underwhelming, while others dismissed the claims as exaggerated and inconsistent with Burna Boy's strong North American record.

The conversation comes on the heels of a separate viral controversy from his earlier stop at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Denver.

In that incident, Burna Boy halted his performance mid-set after noticing a woman who appeared to be asleep in the front row.

Addressing the man beside her, he commanded, "Take her home... I'm not doing another song until you go home."

The couple was eventually escorted out, sparking backlash after it emerged that the woman was reportedly grieving a personal loss.

Feeling the heat, Burna Boy later addressed the saga during a livestream, doubling down rather than backing off.

"Did I tell you all to be my fans? I am only looking for fans who have money this period," he declared, prompting a mix of shock, laughter, and criticism from viewers.
His blunt remark fanned the flames even further, with some accusing him of alienating his own supporters.

Despite the chatter, Burna Boy's camp maintains that the tour is performing "exceptionally well," highlighting multiple sellouts and a packed calendar extending into early 2026.

No official attendance numbers for the Houston show have been released.

The Nigerian star is currently on his "No Sign Of Weakness" U.S. tour, with Dallas, TX, set for November 24, Minneapolis on November 28, and upcoming dates across Chicago and other major cities through December and into the new year.
