Mashida haziishangi – Omosh says after critics troll him for asking financial help again

Former actor Joseph Kinuthia, popularly known as Omosh, has been the talk of town the past few days following his much-criticized interview.

It all started when Omosh appeared on TV47 this week and claimed he received less than a million from well-wishers who promised to help his financial situation.

In February this year, Omosh publicly pleaded with Kenyans for help stating that he depended on friends to provide for his family.

"Life has been so difficult. I cannot provide meals for my family. My children are even wondering what has become of me...There is nothing as hard as waking up every morning and there is nowhere I am going. You see people going to work and coming back and you have nowhere to go. It is very painful," said Omosh.

However, months later, the former actor now claims not everyone who promised to help fulfilled their promises, adding that he was currently broke, as he used the money received to pay off his debts.

“Manze kama ulisema unanitumia kakitu kwani kaliendaje? Bado nategea tu… Kusema tu uwkeli nilipata less than Sh1 million shillings. Nikalipa madeni, chuo ya watoi, juu nilikuwa nimekaa one year, four months bila kulipa.

“Nililipa Madeni nikabaki zero, so sai madeni zinaweza kuja nikicheza... but so far chuo, hao, food… Manze mnidunge katitu bana... Number ni 0727054141. Tuma kakitu,” said Omosh in the recent interview.

Omosh even went ahead and asked Kenyans to help him secure a camera, tripod, lights, and a microphone for his comedy production.

"Sai nikapata mtu aninunulie tu camera, tripod, lights mbili na microphone, sasa ni wache kuomba. Juu huyo jamaa atakuwa amenipatia capital ingine ile wacha tu,” said Omosh.

Despite his attempt to get more help, it seems that his message rubbed Kenyans the wrong way, most of who called him for taking advantage of well-wishers.

Media personality Jalang'o, who mobilized Kenyans to help out Omosh and his family, called out the former actor for misinforming Kenyans, saying he received more than what he claimed he did.

Jalang'o stated that while on his show, Omosh got more than Sh700,000 in cash while other well-wishers sent their contribution via his account and phone number.

"Some people never learn! I can easily assure that Omosh got more than 1 million from my show. Personally in cash he got more than 700K, then people sent money directly to him. I hosted him 2 weeks after he came out…people had already started sending him money @Zeroherepropertiesltd got him land and @sungtimber1built him a house @Honalinur gave him food worth 60k and another 100K in Cash! Hii ni Ujinga tu” said Jalang’o.

Politician Alinur Mohamed also pointed out that he gave the actor food worth 60K, plus 100K in cash.

"This is unbelievable. Unfortunately once I have sacrificed and helped you only to realize that you took my efforts for granted, I can never help you again. Bure kabisa” said Alinur.

After trending on Twitter, Omosh hit back on his critics in a short video that has since gone viral.

In the video, Omosh stated he did not understand why Kenyans kept asking him how he spent the money, adding that he was not forcing anyone to help him.

“Nilikuwa na mashida mingi sana lakini bado mashinda haziishangi. Ndo Maana nilikua nakusho kama unajiskia, si ati nilikuwa Nalazimisha. Manze joo mlinitoa kwa shimo na nashukuru sana..Ma bloggers wachaneni na mimi…hata soon nafungua keja na tutachoma mbuzi hapa..so hiyo ndo inafaa kutrend,” said Omosh.
