Ed Sheeran 'secures' big money deal to become the new 'face of TikTok'

News
 Singer and songwriter Ed Sheeran.

Ed Sheeran is reportedly set to become the new face of TikTok after penning a "big money deal".

In what now seems like a testing of the water video, the Shape of You singer, 30, "broke the Internet" when he performed a brilliant skit with Courteney Cox over the weekend.

The pair amazed fans as they reenacted the famous Friends scene where Courteney's character Monica and her brother Ross (David Schwimmer) resurrected their high school dance routine for a chance to be featured on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve show.

Ed captioned the video on his Instagram: "Had a reunion of our own this weekend."

Fans flocked to the post to praise the pair with The Big Bang Theory's Kaley Cuoco labelling it "EPIC".

And now it appears as though fans of the singer will be able to see a lot more hilarious scenes featuring him on the social media app TikTok.

Courteney Cox and Ed Sheeran recreated Ross and Monica's dance routine from Friends.

It's been reported that he has already started filming with the company in London with big wigs in the company feeling as though their partnership is a "big success".

A source told The Sun: "It is a huge coup to get someone as big as Ed on board and everyone is really excited about the end result.

"TikTok is a huge platform for artists now and Ed can see that.

"It was something he wanted to get involved in and the project he has done with them is really exciting."

The news comes as Ed seemingly ramps up his return to music. At the weekend, he performed at Snape Maltings Concert Hall in Suffolk for the virtual Radio 1's Big Weekend event and played a host of his classic hits alongside his newest number called Visiting Hours.

And his new reported deal with TikTok has been viewed by some as a great way for the star to release his new music in the coming months.

Ed took a step back from the limelight in 2019 when he started a family with partner Cherry Seaborn.

The couple welcomed daughter Lyra Antarctica to the world last year and Ed revealed that the song Afterglow was dedicated to his firstborn.

As well as new music, the singer has been looking after himself during the lockdown. He has admitted that the coronavirus pandemic has forced him to ditch vices and embrace healthy lifestyle.
