How often does 19 year old pitched up against older, more experienced contestants win the ultimate prize and clinch the television presenter position coveted by many?

Well, for Edith Kimani, hers was an admirably rare win and a chance to live the life many would simply hope for. At only 19, still a student at the United States International university, she defied the odds, and beat 15 contestants to win the first ever “Presenter” reality show by KTN.

But it wasn’t all about the win! Ahead of her lay was the challenge to ensure that her brand rises to become a force to reckon with in the Kenyan media. In a media house that was already endowed with impressive talent like Esther Arunga, Lilian Muli and Janet Mbugua she was bound to work much harder, lest she remained under their popular anchors shadow.

Fast forward to date, 6 years later, and Edith has proven that she was worth the win by all means. Having hosted Prime time news, mediated powerful interviews, put together impressive news pieces and even challenged the status to step up to task, hers was baptism by fire to which she turned out refined.

Taking each day by stride, Edith carried herself with decorum, avoided scandal by all means and kept her privates as such up till she recently announced that she would be leaving KTN.

After years of learning and mastering the art at KTN Kenya, she is moving to the German based DW-TV as an East African correspondent.

“It's been a great 6yrs at KTN. Thank you. Hello DW-TV. East African correspondent twende kazi.” She said.

Strategically, this came soon after Edith has taken part in mentoring the season 2 presenter contestants up until the new presenter Michelle Ngele was crowned winner at “The presenter Season 2” grand finale.

Evidently, Edith shall be missed by the KTN family and it was for this reason that she received a warm surprise farewell party from her colleagues who wished her the best going forth. A tear filled Edith seemed overwhelmed and gave a farewell party saying that ‘KTN would always be family even as she set out for new pastures.’
