Opposition leader Raila Odinga has revealed the reason why Former Meru Governor, Peter Munya, ditched him barely a week after dumping the Jubilee Party led by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

According to the National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate, Mr Munya left the coalition because ‘he was under a lot of pressure.’

Raila, however, did not explain in detail who was behind Munya’s depature.

The former Prime Minister noted that Munya’s move will not affect the coalition votes from the Meru region, indicating that he (Raila) got many votes on August 8 without Munya in the NASA brigade.

Raila also maintained that NASA will not go the repeat presidential election with a faulty Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

“Issues that were raised at the Supreme Court have not been addressed by IEBC. The commission does not appreciate the magnitude of the problem that we have,” stressed Raila.

He spoke on Tuesday night in an interview on KTN news.

Commissioners at the IEBC resolved to work together to deliver a free, fair and credible election on 17th.

Speaking at a retreat in Naivasha on Monday, IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati indicated that the commission discussed issues that surrounded the August 8 election and will ensure there will be a smooth process.

Chebukati also revealed that IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba will oversee the project team he appointed last week for the fresh showdown.
