Former Vice-President Kalonzo Musyoka mourns veteran journalist, Nzau Kalulu

NAIROBI, KENYA: Wiper Democratic Leader Kalonzo Musyoka Tuesday sent a message of condolence to the family friends and relatives of the Late Mr. Nzau Kalulu who passed on yesterday at a Nairobi Hospital 

Kalonzo who is in India for a private visit said he received the news of the passing on of Mr. Nzau Kalulu with shock and disbelief, describing him as a humble, dedicated media personality who worked tirelessly to promote the cultural values in our Nation. 

“Nzau Kalulu was among the pioneer media personalities who initiated vernacular stations which among other things recognized our different diverse cultures and now thanks to him and others, community based radio stations have spread across the Nation,” said Kalonzo. 

Kalonzo said the late Veteran Journalist was an icon, leader in the media fraternity and a friend to many and asked the family to look up to God at this difficult time of mourning.

“My deepest and heartfelt condolences to the family of my friend Nzau Kalulu, during this difficult time, please look up to the Almighty God for fortitude and comfort to bear this great loss” Kalonzo added. 

Kalulu passed on  Monday while undergoing treatment at Nairobi Hospital.

According to his father,Fredrick Mulinge Kalulu,the fallen  renown radio personality succumbed shortly after 4.00pm at the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.

The former Royal Media Services employee has been battling with kidney failure that eventually triggered diabetes.

His sister Ndunge Kalulu donated one of her kidneys which was transplanted in an Indian hospital a couple of years ago.

On receiving the news of his death Mbooni constituency residents where he hails sent their messages of condolences to his family.

Led by Senator Mutula Kilonzo junior and area MP Kisoi Munyao,the residents regretted the long arm od death has robbed the family,the area and the country a dependable son in the media industry.

Both Mutula junior and Kisoi described the late Nzau as a seasoned journalists who inspired many through his profession.

The late Nzau Kalulu began his career at the State’s broadcaster,KBC  where he hosted the famous “Showndowner” programme.

He later joined the Royal Media as the Head of radio

The father who is also a former Mbooni MP thanked those who stood with him and the entire family during his son’s brave fight with the disease that led to amputation of his legs.
