Turkana County in Sh4 million livestock vaccination drive

The county government has set aside Sh4 million for a livestock vaccination drive in Turkana West and North constituencies.

County veterinary director Dr Benson Long’or said of the project: “Routine vaccination and treatment is one of the exercises that the county veterinary department engages in as a way of preventing livestock deaths due to diseases,” he said.

Some of the areas the exercise targets include Songot, Lokichogio and Oropoi. Turkana County is largely a pastoral community.

The first phase of mass vaccination was against contagious Caprine Pleuro-pneumonia and Bovine Pleauro-pneumonia.
