Omino: Get it loud and clear Gor, no Stima favours

Western Stima coach Henry Omino has told Gor Mahia to expect no favours when the two sides meet in a Kenyan Premier League match this afternoon.

Gor Mahia are struggling, their ego having severely been brusied on Sunday when they lost to Muhoroni Youth in the finals of the KPL Top 8 clash and Omino says his mission is to rub more salt to Gor Mahia’s injury.

“We know they are still in the race for the league title, but let them know we are not the ones to guide them to the title. They should not expect any favours from us on Wednesday,” Omino thundered.

“All we want is to continue performing well. This is our best season so far and the team has given their best. We know we can beat Gor Mahia and we have worked hard to ensure we get something out of that game,” he added.

A loss for Gor Mahia, even a draw will all but end their title hopes. They are seven points behind league leaders Tusker who beat Bandari by a solitary goal at the weekend.

Gor coach Jose Marcello Ferreira “Ze Maria” knows his job is not safe despite maintaining hopes of winning the league title.

“We are dissapointed by our performance so far, especially on Sunday but we have put that behind us and are focussed on the league title,” he said.

“We have five matches to go and every game is going to be like a final to us. We will give our best. The spirit is there and the hunger is also there,” said the Brazillian.

He added: “Western Stima will not be an easy side but we will give our best.”

Against Muhoroni and as has been since the second leg began, Gor Mahia were lethargic in attack, Meddie Kagere and Jacques Tuyisenge fluffing numerous chances.

Omino said he knows the confidence level at Gor Mahia is at its lowest and that is what we are going to take advantage of.

“They have not been performing well. It is affecting them.”

Stima have been the best performers in the second leg and are currently fourth and Omino says they have not lost sight of the league title.

“We know we can,” he said.

Omino will definitely be banking on the scoring exploits of his chief lieutenant Wesley Kemboi, who was early in the month named the player of the month of September by sports journalists.

Gor Mahia meanwhile will hope Tuyisenge and Kagere finally click.
