The Luhyia community is the second most populous tribe in Kenya. Unfortunately, the numbers don't add up as far as political influence is concerned given the fragmented nature of the community.
Since politics is about numbers, a united Luhyia community would be the envy of every politician. Serious political contenders will either strive to get the entire vote or divide it. Dividing the Mulembe vote has been top on the agenda of outsiders keen to reduce the impact of community leaders.
