Commission to close 10 more campuses, many more to follow

Students are likely to suffer after the Commission for University Education (CUE) ordered the closure of 10 out of 13 Kisii University campuses in Western, Nyanza and Rift Valley regions.

The commission has given the campuses 90 days to wind up and relocate the students to accredited campuses. In their report, CUE said inspection of campuses in Kenya is still going on.

Campuses under review include Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (Kisumu); JKUAT (Nakuru) and Moi University campuses in Kitale and Odera Akang’o.

The 10 Kisii University campuses to be closed are in Eldoret, Eldama Ravine, Nyamira, Kabarnet, Migori, Ogembo, Keroka, Kehancha, Kapenguria and Isebania. Also facing closure is Laikipia University’s campus in Nyahururu.
