Gated communities seem to be the preferred choice for many home buyers. Upscale residential suburbs have been growing fast in Nairobi and have been irresistible to many Kenyans.

A gated community is a form of residential or housing estate with strictly-controlled entrances and access for pedestrians, bicycles and automobiles. They are distinguished by closed perimeter walls and fences, with security being their primary goal.
