Stop politicising security issues, church leaders tell politicians

Kenyans are losing confidence in the Government due to runaway insecurity, Evangelical churches in Kenya have said.

While advising leaders to stop politicising security matters, the Kenya National Congress of Pentecostal Churches said it is time all Kenyans joined hands in addressing the vice.

Regretting the recent deaths of innocent Kenyans in Nadome, Baringo County, the clergymen called on the Government to ensure that security was guaranteed for all Kenyans.

The congress's national chairman Stanley Michuki said banditry and terrorism are weakening the national social fabrics and reversing the gains made in maintaining peace.

"Based on this, we wish to state that the massive killings in the country by terrorists and bandits are worrying," he said.

Bishop Michuki urged politicians to stop persistent wrangles on insecurity and instead unite to ensure Kenya is safe.

He was addressing the Press after a three-day training for the congress on National Cohesion and Integration at the Kenya Wildlife Service Training Institute in Naivasha, Nakuru County.
