Nairobi; Kenya: Kenya will from October 29 to 31 host the International Co-operatives Summit 2014 to address challenges facing the sub-sector.

The summit hosted by the Institute of Management in Mombasa, will discuss contemporary issues facing Saccos, and how to address or leverage on the opportunities.

It will also, among other things, analyse options for integrating, promoting and sustaining Sacco engagement and challenges to growing the cooperative model.

Other issues to be tackled include Saccos’ best practices on governance, performance, talent attraction and retention.

Speakers at the event themed, ‘Transformative Development: Harnessing the Cooperative Entrepreneurship in Realising a Sustainable Economy’, include Global Co-operative Development Group MD Terry MacDonald and Sacco regulatory CEO Carilus Ademba.
