KU students hope for peaceful nights after bedbug campaign

Students at Kenyatta University hope they will sleep in peace following a vigorous campaign against bedbugs at their hostels.

The university began fumigating the hostels last week after students complained they were being attacked by armies of the bloodsucker.

Campus Vibe correspondent said KU has further taken strict measures to ensure the hostels are clean and free of any pests. This has received praise from students. Early this month, The Nairobian reported that the insects were slowly crawling their way into the city’s menace list. Administrators at various universities have acted commendably fast to tackle the insects.

Bedbugs are apparently a problem on the rise globally and Nairobi’s case is not unique.

Students had complained of being bitten by the insects at night before the university begun fumigation.

Some students had tried pouring hot water on their bedding, aired blankets and mattresses in the sun and used insecticides with little success.
