Imam, village elder murdered in cold blood as unknown gunmen storm Kwale village

An imam of Mabokoni mosque in Kwale County is among two people killed in cold blood on Saturday night.

Omar Shehe Fuvwe, 51, was slashed to death by assailants who stormed a village at around 9:30 pm, and abducted 50-year old local elder Bakari Dondo.

Police said about 20 armed men wielding firearms and other weapons raided the village.

Dondo's body was later found about a kilometre away from his home with the head missing.

His head was buried about 80 meters from the trunk.

Msambweni police boss Nehemiah Bitok told The Standard on phone that the motive of the killings is unknown and police have launched investigation to unravel the circumstances of the killing.

He said the body parts of the two were in bad state following deep Panga cuts inflicted.

He said the gunmen later escaped on foot after the incident.

"We are yet to establish the motive of the killings of the two elders. We are following crucial leads on the same," said police boss.

The bodies were moved to Kwale County Hospital mortuary.

Police did not indicate whether any suspect was arrested or the motive of the killings.
