Women caught shoplifting at supermarket

NYERI, KENYA: Two women were yesterday caught red handed as they shoplifted at a popular supermarket in Nyeri Town.

However, one of them managed to escape while her accomplice was not  so lucky.

According to the manager of Woodley Supermarket George Waihenya, the two women entered the premises posing as customers.

“They requested to be shown where they could buy panties before each decided to take strategic positions where they stuffed some goods into their clothes before leaving in hurry,” he said.

She said after stuffing the goods in their armpits, they passed by the cashier oblivious that they were being watched on CCTV.

It was after the two had covered about 100 metres that the manager instructed  his guards to go after them.

“Upon searching one of the shoplifters, we found she had stuffed two packet of milo (400 grammes) worth Sh780 into her clothes,” he said.

Waihenya said cases of customer shoplifting from the supermarket have become rampant in the area in the recent
