Armed gangsters donning police uniform raided a petrol station in Kitui town in a foiled robbery attempt recently.

The six-man gang attacked Kanda Petrol Station at Kunda Kindu estate at 2 am holding a security guard and pump attendant hostage for minutes.

Musyoka Lenah, the attendant, said the gangsters first held captive the night security guard before they tied their hands and legs together with cords and ordered them to lie down on their bellies.

Alex Nzioki, another attendant who was watching the attack from a safe corner said from the time the “policemen” seized the petrol station, a member of the gang hit the main office’s door with a metal rod, breaking the padlock.

The witness said before the gangsters could enter into the broken office, a loud alert was sounded with the raiders scampering into the darkness.
