Elected leaders in Homa Bay County say they were not informed of President William Ruto's visit on Sunday.

Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma said he did not receive any communication to that effect.

"The president's protocol office should have informed me about his visit. It shows a bad picture," Kaluma said. The MP said he received information regarding the visit on social media on Sunday morning but could not travel from Nairobi.

Governor Gladys Wanga, who was also absent at the Africa Inland Church in Homa Bay where the President attended the Sunday service, said she did not boycott the meeting.

She said she got information on Saturday night when she already had a scheduled meeting. Senator Moses Kajwang' added: "Let nobody talk of a boycott. I was not invited."

Regional Commissioner Magu Mutindika said he was away but was represented by his deputy. Sources told The Standard the church meeting was planned in a huff on Saturday evening
