Motorcycle assembler and distributor Yamaha Kenya has partnered with the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) and the Kenya Police Service to offer enhanced safety training for boda boda operators.

Nakuru County is set to be the first to benefit from the training, with over 20 boda boda operators drawn from different riding associations in the county receiving training from the Yamaha Riding Academy.

Nakuru County County Executive Committee Member for Transport Eng Maina Kairu says it has set up a county transport and safety committee.

The county government is also offering loans of between Sh20,000 and Sh300,000 over a 24-month repayment period at a rate of 8 per cent to empower county businesses including boda boda operators to buy their own assets.
