Credit Bank has launched an initiative to interest legal practitioners in its loan products.
In a bid to drive uptake in the new niche, the SME lender recently held a sensitisation workshop with lawyers and top entrepreneurs in Kisumu.
LSK Western Region Chairman Bruce Odeny said the move was timely and that it stood to benefit legal startups and SMES.
“The legal profession is currently represented by up to 70 per cent of young practicing advocates and Kisumu plays a big role in the space with a growing footprint in Kenya,” said Odeny.
Credit Bank Kisumu Manager David Ondier said Kisumu and the larger Western region is key to the success of its campaign.
"With the capacity to provide employment to a third of the county’s labour force, ensuring SME’s growth and being part of the vibrant Kisumu business ecosystem, is part of our mission," said Ondier.
Recalling the achievements, Mr Ondier said the bank has since been a key supporter of SMEs where even businesses engaged in cross border trade have over the years enjoyed tailor-made financing solutions including its pre and post-shipment financing.
This is over and above giving SMEs the ability to participate in international trade where the former can operate accounts in foreign currencies.
“As a Bank, Kisumu Branch was a major milestone for us. We have been the friend that has walked with thousands of entrepreneurs in their growth journey and we are proud that we continue to offer tailor-made products that serve and support all the segments of our economy,” said Ondier.
