EU adopts conditions for allocation of more spectrum to mobile services

The European Commission announced on Thursday it had adopted a set of harmonized technical conditions that lay the groundwork for the allocation of more spectrum to mobile services in the 700 MHz band.

The Commission presented a proposal in February to better coordinate spectrum within the ultra-high frequency band (470 to 790 MHz) in the European Union (EU) and to boost mobile services with more radio frequencies from the 700 MHz band, hoping it would help the EU meet the growing demand for wireless broadband.
