Safaricom bags continental awards in South Africa

NAIROBI, KENYA: Safaricom has emerged the winner in two prestigious categories at the first ever Careers In Africa Employer of Choice Awards, held in Johannesburg, South Africa late last week.

Safaricom was named the winner in two categories: Africa Employer of Choice 2015 for Leadership and Management, and Africa Employer of Choice 2015 for CSR.

The awards are a partnership between pan-African business magazine African Business and top international recruitment consultancy Global Career Company, and are the result of Africa’s first continent-wide survey aimed at gaining insights into the perceptions of various companies’ current and future employees.

“Winning this award is validation of the strong employer brand that Safaricom has created over the years by providing a desirable working environment and numerous opportunities for employees to grow in their chosen career paths,” said Roy Masamba, Director – Resources, Safaricom.

“We are pleased to be recognised alongside some of Africa’s biggest companies, and intend to use this opportunity to benchmark ourselves against the world’s top employers as named by the very people we target: African talent,” said Mr. Masamba.

The Careers In Africa Employer of Choice survey covers all 54 African countries, looking at various markets and industries and seeking insights from over 500,000 respondents drawn from a pool of international and local talent.
