NAIVASHA, KENYA: The National Authority for Campaign against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) has raised concern over the resurgence of second generation brews in parts of the country.
A month after the presidential directive on the liquor, the Authority noted that some of the traders were back in the market.
The Authority chairman John Mututho said that the brewers of the lethal drinks were using back doors after the crackdown cooled off.
He was however quick to praise MPs and the police for acting on the brews adding that the one month crackdown yielded some fruits.
"We are happy with the one month crackdown on the second generation brews but our worry is that the merchants of death are back to their work," he said.
The former Naivasha MP said that the authority would soon embark on a countrywide crackdown on those selling the brews.
"Some the companies claim that the brews are triple-distilled and this is a big lie and we shall expose them for that," he said.
Mututho said that the fight against the brews will be won if the sale of molasses products like industrial spirits and ethanol were controlled at factory levels.
