Kibaki's escort boss moved in shuffle

The Presidential Escort Commandant Benson Kibui has been moved in changes that affected 143 senior police officers.

Mr Kibui was appointed Western Province Police officer to replace Mr Kingori Mwangi who was transferred to police headquarters as deputy director of police reforms.

His deputy Mwendwa Kitili will replace Kibui, who had differences with the First Lady. Mr James Adoli will be the new North Eastern Provincial Police Officer.

Police Commissioner Mathew Iteere announced the changes yesterday, which saw Nairobi Area PCIO Futu Mwachai promoted to deputy CID director, replacing Mr Peter Eregi whose next appointment was not announced.

Head of Banking Fraud Investigations Unit Mohamed Amin was moved to CID headquarters and named the head of investigations branch to replace Mr Gideon Kimilu who was transferred to CID Training School as the commandant.

The changes saw nearly all PCIOs moved and a new forensic department formed headed by Mr Maurice Amatta.

Nyanza PCIO Sebastian Ndaru was moved to CID headquarters to be in charge of complaints, Rift Valley’s Samuel Nyabengi to Eastern, Western’s Joseph Mugwanja to Nyanza, Eastern’s Lilian Kiamba to Western, Railway’s Henry Ondiek to Rift Valley, while Judy Ndeda was named the new PCIO, Railways.

The Railways commandant will be Mr Kirimi Ringera, while Mr Gabriel Mbuvi takes over as the head of Banking Fraud Investigations Unit.

Mr Iteere named Mr Munga Nyale as the head of Flying Squad to replace Mr Julius Sunkuli who has been moved to the CID headquarters.
