UK premier pledges support in law review

Britain will support Government push for a new constitution, Prime Minister David Cameron has said.

Pledging the support for the review process, Cameron said he remains committed to the UK’s strong partnership with Kenya.

He said his Government would support vigorous political and economic reform in Kenya while strengthening the ties that have existed between the two countries. He spoke yesterday at a meeting with PM Raila Odinga at Downing Street, his first official meeting with an African leader.

Congratulating Cameron on his appointment as Prime Minister, Raila briefed him on developments the constitution review process.

Raila said the Government is determined to deliver a new constitution to Kenyans.

Raila later held discussions with Henry Bellingham, the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Office responsible for Africa and Stephen O’Brien, the Minister for International Affairs. Raila is in the UK for the launch of the Africa-UK Engineering for Development Partnership at the Royal Academy of Engineering.
