KACC Board plans to advertise vacant posts

The Kenya Anti-Corruption Advisory Board meets this morning to approve an advertisement for the positions of director and two deputies of KACC.

Chairman Okong’o Omogeni said the board welcomed the resignation, adding it "has paved way for the advertorial, which will be run in the media tomorrow (Friday).

Last week, efforts to pave way for the advertorial hit a snag after then KACC Director Aaron Ringera declined to release money, arguing the positions were not vacant.

Justice Ringera told a baffled board to "organise for a harambee at Uhuru Park and raise funds to place the advertorial".

Omogeni said the new director would have to take home Sh900,000 less than Ringera’s hefty perks of Sh2.5 million monthly.

moral integrity

Remuneration for deputy directors grossed at Sh1.7 million a month will be reviewed downwards, although the scale of the pay cut could not be immediately confirmed.

The qualification for the director’s position and the two assistants include legal training and experience in public law and high moral integrity.

Omogeni said the board would shortlist candidates and forward their names to Parliament for vetting before they are passed on to the President for appointment.

Last week, a sub-committee worked on the advertisement, which will be adopted today at the meeting at Integrity House, Nairobi.
