Consolata Musanga training at PalPal hall in Nairobi.[Jonah Onyango,Standard] Former Pugilistic Syndicate of Tanzania Super Bantamweight champion Consolata Musanga says her Ugandan opponent Rachael Musubika will have nowhere to hide in their six round non-title featherweight fight slated for Sarit Expo Centre in Nairobi on Saturday. The seven-card historic bouts, promoted by Maurice Odera of Ultra Fight Series Promotion, will be headlined by former African Boxing Union Light Heavy champion Daniel Wanyonyi who will be up against Karim 'Mtu Kazi' Mandonga in a ten round epic rematch. Gaming firm Betika and national broadcaster Standard Group PLC are some of the sponsors who have come on board to support the slug fest. Betika on Monday sunk in Sh1.5 Million to promote the fights. Musanga has promised to crank the heat in the ring on Saturday, saying Musubika's marauding tactics will all be smoked out. "The target is to win, I believe it will happen. "The bout is six rounds, but I don't see us going that way, it will not last beyond the third because the heat will be too much for Musubika to contain," Musanga told Standard Sport. [Courtesy] Musanga has been upping her training at the Pal Pal Gymnasium in Nairobi for the fight since April. So far, she has done all the load work which has put her body in shape, ready for the battle ahead. "I did a lot of road work, back exercises, rope skipping and sparring. "This week I'm scaling down the exercises, I'll do padwork and slight sprints in the gym," she underlined. When asked wether she has taken time to study Musubika ahead of the fight, Musanga reiterated that she is not bothered at all. "I'm focused on my training, let's just meet in the ring, what I know is I will not let my fans down," she stated. Even though she has tried her luck in many high profile title fights, Musanga has never given up. She believes victory against Musubika (four losses all KOs) will grant her a good opportunity to land a respectable belt fight. Tale of the tape for 36 year old Musanga currently stands at 19 fights including 9 wins (6 KOs), 6 losses (1KO) and 4 draws. Betika Senior Brand Manager, Eric Mwiti says the reason for their coming on board to promote the bouts is because they want to diversify their sports portfolio. "We have been supporting football, Rally Cross in Machakos, Tarkwondo, the WRC Safari Rally among others. "So boxing is just a step in the direction for our sponsorships. "The Sh1.5 Million we have given out today will cater for the boxers prizes including event's planning and logistics," Mwiti highlighted. "We expect Wanyonyi, Musanga and other local boxers who will be on duty on Saturday to put up a spirited show against their international opponents," Mwiti added. Sarit Expo Center Marketing Manager, Mary Wangui said the venue they are unveiling will be top notch and very conducive to the over 2500 fans expected to grace the event. "We are happy to be part of those who are promoting sporting culture in Kenya. "We will ensure spectators have a great place to watch the fights and experience the boxing spectacle that is awaiting. "We assure the fans of total security," Wangui stated. Odera said ticket holders for the fight can board buses that will be available at Kencom on a first come first serve basis on Saturday at 5pm. "Tickets for the fights can be bought online at ticketsasa.com. "We have the advance general tickets that goes for Sh1000, the ringside/VIP that goes for Sh5500. "At the gate, the same will go for Sh1500 and Sh7500 in that order," he stated.
