Equity Hawks started their title defence on the front foot after coming from behind to edge Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) 53-51 in a closely contested Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) Women’s Premier League playoff final game one at Nyayo Gymnasium yesterday.

Trailing by six points in the third quarter, the defending champions outscored KPA 18-10 in the fourth quarter with Betty Kananu scoring six, Salma Akinyi five and Hilda Ndegwa five to inspire the bankers to victory.
