The rising fuel prices give us a reason to protest
On 15th July, 2016, prices of fuel increased as the Kshs6 road maintenance levy took effect. The price of petrol rose to Kshs92.93, diesel to Kshs83.24 and kerosene Kshs61.45 in Nairobi. The price is obviously going to be much higher in far flung areas like Mandera, Kisumu, Kitale, Lokichogio and Moyale.

South Sudan has just celebrated its 5th independence anniversary in its usual fashion. Instead of faces being filled with hopes and promises of a brighter future, there was pessimism, cynicism and despair. Apparently, as Riek Machar was meeting Salva Kiir in Juba, fighting broke out between their respective army factions leaving scores dead and others wounded. Unconfirmed reports put the death toll around 100.

It’s time to implement the death penalty
The debate over the death penalty has for some time been relegated to the backburner for reasons best known to authorities. Proponents and opponents of the same are divided down the middle. The opponents allege that death penalty is against the Bill of Rights which gives each and every individual the right to life. They also argue this sentence does not have a deterrent effect, does not rehabilitate and that it’s savage, beastly and inhuman.

Brexit plebiscite maybe a sign of Trump presidency
In America we are witnessing Donald Trump march towards the presidency despite opposition from moderates and liberals. Trump is a divisive figure who was pro-Brexit claiming that Britain has claimed back their country after opting out of EU.
