President William Ruto has appointed former Energy Cabinet Secretary Charles Keter as his advisor.

Keter will advise Ruto on affairs of the Great Lakes Region.

Keter, who had quietly disappeared from the public now makes a comeback into government, after unsuccessfully seeking the Kericho governor seat in the August 2022 General Election.

He lost to UDA’s Erick Mutai, who is the current Kericho Governor.

Before declaring interest in the Kericho governorship, Keter had just resigned as the CS of Devolution Ministry.

He served in different ministries as either assistant minister or minister.

He was in 2015 appointed as the CS for Energy, to serve in former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration.

Keter also served as Kericho Senator from 2013 to 2015.
