Former Migori Deputy Governor Nelson Mahanga dies in Nairobi hospital

Former Migori Deputy Governor Nelson Mahanga is dead. 

 Former Migori Deputy Governor Nelson Mahanga has died, his family has said.

Mahanga died on Saturday, September 9, 2023 while recieving treatment at MP Shah Hospital in Nairobi.

He had been admitted to the hospital after an illness, but his family did not disclose the cause of his death.

Mahanga served as the Deputy Governor of Migori for two terms between 2013 and 2022, under former Governor Okoth Obado.

Migori Governor Ochilo Ayacko eulogized Mahanga as a “dedicated and visionary leader” who contributed to the development of the county.

“With a heavy heart, I send my sincere condolences to family, friends, relatives, the entire citizenry of Migori County and Kenya at large for the unfortunate demise of our first Deputy Governor Hon. Nelson Mahanga Mwita,” Ayacko said on his Facebook page.

He added that he was keeping Mahanga’s family in his thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
