After spurning Mama Samia Suluhu Hassan, we deserve more than just a tongue-lashing

There has been much ado about the impending talks between Prezzo Bill Ruto and Opposition head Raila Odinga, aka Baba. But these two have been in conversations for a very long time, when both served in the Orange Democratic Party.

In fact, it is Prezzo Ruto who was the strongest defender of the alleged electoral theft against Baba in 2007, and which was the basis of his prosecution at the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity.

Then, Prezzo Ruto was appointed to the Cabinet in the nusu mkate government, before Baba fired him (temporarily) for corruption in the Ministry of Agriculture.

And in characteristic style of the day, the departed Prezzo Kibaki reinstated Ruto. I’d assume the alleged malfeasance was investigated overnight by Prezzo Kibaki and Bill was given a clean bill of health.

I have no way of knowing if Baba and Prezzo Ruto did mend their relations, but they ran in different directions and went head-to-head in the last General Election.

Early this month, they reportedly sought to sit together and reason together, as all grown-ups should, in an initiative that was reportedly brokered by our neighbour, the grand lady of Tanzania, Mama Suluhu Hassan.

Since her name means “solution,” that sounded natural, although Mama Suluhu occasionally makes snide statements about some unnamed “nchi jirani” that’s almost broke and where leaders are at loggerheads, precipitating good tidings for Tanzania’s foreign direct investments.

That means Tanzania’s is already the solution to Kenya’s turmoil.

I don’t know what came first - the diplomatic overture from Mama Suluhu or the alleged snub by Prezzo Ruto.

By the way, would our Prezzo disappear for days without any of us getting a whiff of what’s going on?

If Mama Suluhu was holed up somewhere on the slopes of Mt Kenya as alleged, then it implies Deputy Prezzo Rigathi Gachagua aka Riggy G is emerging as the regional “kingpin,” judging from the kind of guests he brings to his county!
