Three Belgian tourists and a Kenya driver were Friday killed in a road accident at Mwanatibu area near Samburu town, Kwale County along the Mombasa-Nairobi Highway.

Samburu Sub-County OCPD Fredrick Ombaka said the tourists were in a Toyota van that was heading towards Mombasa when a container truck crashed into them.

Ombaka said of the driver of the trailer was trying to avoid hitting animals crossing the road when the container it was carrying fell on the van.

“We are still investigating the cause of the accident,” said a police officer at the scene.
