Three Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) Examinations candidates from Nyamira County have been listed for special attention during the tests after they gave birth hours to the start of the papers.

The three will be sitting for their day one paper from the hospital beds after giving birth hours to the start of the tests.

The candidates are from Ikonge Girls Secondary in Nyamira North; St Mathias Mulumba Girls and St Andrew's Kagwa Girls schools are said to have gone into labour on Thursday afternoon during rehearsals and were admitted to different facilities in the county.

The first was admitted to Ekerenyo Sub-County Hospital where she was admitted before delivering a baby boy.

The second candidate from Kagwa Girls gave birth at Nyansiongo Nursing Home in Kijauri while the other candidate from Mulumba Girls underwent a cesarean at Summit Medical Center where she was admitted on Thursday evening before she delivered a bouncing baby girl.

According to County Commissioner Amos Mariba, the new mothers have been attending classes while in their expectancy.

Mariba said they have all been assigned female police officers who will handle them during the papers.

However, Mr Mariba could not divulge more information on how many other expectant girls from the region are sitting the examinations.

"The cases are among some other girls whom the Government is paying close attention to while they do their exams because they may need close monitoring and in case of any emergencies, they will find hand help," Mariba said.

The County Commissioner said the National exams started well across the region without any incidences being reported.

"No incident has been reported so far and we are hoping all shall go well for the next three weeks," he added.
