Political leaders have begun piling pressure on MCAs in Nyanza counties to pass the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) referendum Bill.

This is after Siaya County Assembly passed the Bill last Wednesday.

Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang', MPs Lilian Gogo (Rangwe), Tom Kajwang' (Ruaraka), former Kasipul MP Oyugi Magwanga and former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero want MCAs in the region to pass the Bill by Tuesday this week.

Last Thursday, Homa Bay County Assembly Speaker Elizabeth Ayoo said MCAs will pass the Bill Thursday.

However, political leaders who spoke on Friday during burial of Kajwang's grandmother Prisca Ondigo in Gongo location, Rangwe, urged assemblies yet to pass the Bill in the region to do so by Tuesday.

Senator Kajwang' said the Bill will enable residents to get more funds for implementation of development through introduction of the Ward Development Fund.

Kidero threatened to hold a demonstration Homa Bay town if Homa Bay MCAs fail to pass the bill on Tuesday.

Gogo told MCAs to avoid any information that may deter them from passing the Bill.
