Amani National Congress (ANC) Party leader Musalia Mudavadi has criticised Deputy President William Ruto for blaming Jubilee failures on President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Mudavadi (pictured) termed Ruto’s sentiments as hypocritical, saying the DP is part of the government and should share the shortcomings.
“We need to stop being hypocritical. If there are shortcomings stop telling Kenyans it is Uhuru’s failure. You are part of the system and you should be giving us solutions not the problems,” he said.
Mudavadi's sentiments were in reference to Ruto's recent indirect remarks on the President and opposition leader Raila Odinga at a fundraiser in Nyamira County.
“We had the Big Four Agenda. But most of the issues stalled because we have been told that there is a very important project...the project of BBI geared on creating three or four jobs for some few people,” Ruto said at a rally in Kitutu Masaba.
Mudavadi called on leaders from across the political divide to respect the presidency, but demand development and service delivery.
“It is time for Uhuru to do for Kenyans what he had in mind when he sought election as the president,” said Mudavadi, who was speaking at Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA), Gilgil.
The ANC leader called on Kenyans to make informed decisions while choosing the next leader, saying they should go for someone who stands for issues affecting the ordinary Kenyans.
“To revive our economy, fight corruption, alleviate poverty and diseases we must have peace. Leaders who perpetrate politics of animosity should be shunned,” he said.
Lugari MP Ayub Savula said that the party will ensure Mudavadi was on the ballot as their presidential candidate, noting that they had backed other parties long enough.
“We resolved that Mudavadi will be our flag bearer. On this we are not going back. He is the right person to take the country back on track,” said Savula.
Other leaders present were Vihiga Woman Representative Bearice Adagala, Nambale MP Sakwa Bunyasi, Sabatia MP Alfred Agoi. They all drummed up support for Mudavadi ahead of the next polls.
