Maryanne Njuguna was in high school when she began nodding off at the drop of a hat. 

“At first I thought it was because of a change in sleep patterns. I would wake up every morning feeling exhausted. And in class, I would fall asleep while taking notes. Out of class I would fall asleep playing or exercising or even standing up. I know it sounds odd. It felt odd too. And some teachers would make me stand during lessons so as to stop me from falling asleep, but I would sleep while standing. It was unstoppable,” she explains.
