Baringo Senator Gideon Moi has called on leaders disrespecting President Uhuru Kenyatta to stop for the sake of national unity.

Gideon, who was speaking at AIC Milimani Church in Toniok, Eldama Ravine, said it was time to support the president so as he achieve the  Big  Four  Agenda. He had just attended fundraising to clear Sh1 million bill for a  14-year-old  who is to undergo corrective spinal surgery.

“Let’s respect   President   Uhuru Kenyatta; he is not only a   leader but a   symbol of national unity. Leaders should by virtue of their positions respect him as we all need to be respected,” said Gideon.

The Kanu party leader also called on Kenyans to shun leaders who keep throwing abuses and preaching political division and hatred. A number of leaders are now on the spot for abusing  President Kenyatta. Among them is Emurua   Dikirr   MP   Johana   Ng’eno and his Kapseret counterpart Oscar Sudi.

Ng’eno was charged with hate speech and offensive conduct, charges which he denied. The legislator is accused of using hate speech to incite two communities in Narok County. Gideon said though he is yet to announce the position he will vie for come  2022,  some quarters were already afraid.

“Why are you terrified when I  have not declared what  I  want? What will happen when I officially state my interest,”  he posed.

The senator said he was in the meantime going around the country meeting friends waiting for the right time to make a declaration. He has so far met top leaders across the country and revamped the  Kanu party in readiness for 2022. He recently met  Western  Kenya leaders,  among them  ODM   deputy party leader   Wycliffe Oparanya, Devolution Cabinet   Secretary   Eugene   Wamalwa,   Cotu   Secretary-General Francis Atwoli, Majority  Whip  Emmanuel  Wangwe and a delegation of youth from Kajiado led by  Senator  Philip  Mpaayei.

Gideon has also hosted Peoples Democratic Party  (PDP)  delegation from   Kisii and   Nyamira counties led by party leader   Omingo   Magara at   Kabarnet Gardens in Nairobi. He has also met leaders from Bungoma and Trans Nzoia.

“When the right time comes I will return to you to seek your direction as a  servant leader,”  he said.  Gideon added that he will not be cowed and has all the resources, time and energy.

“I have the time, energy and resources and cannot be intimidated.  For now, let’s work for the people and support the president,” he added.
