100 percent transition not possible in North Eastern, leaders tell Magoha

Mandera leaders on Thursday rubbished Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha's 100 percent transition to secondary schools saying it's no longer tenable after TSC withdrew teachers.

Speaking at a conference on the education crisis Mandera Governor Ali Roba said the gains made in education have been reversed by the unilateral and I'll advised TSC decision to recall non local teachers from Mandera, Wajir and Garissa on insecurity grounds.

Roba said the region was being profiled badly and teachers recalled without any replacements in total disregard of TSC. Over 850 teachers have been transferred from Mandera but replaced during education.

Conference attracted KNUT national chair Collins Oyuu who said North Eastern was being targeted unfairly with teacher transfer and this posed a serious challenge to the rights of the children from the region.
