Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has hit out at a section of Jubilee party MPs she accused of disrespecting the president.
She said it is wrong for the MPs, especially from Mt Kenya region, to mislead Kenyans that President Uhuru Kenyatta was reluctant to retire from politics when his term ends.
Saying that these legislators were being used to discredit the president over Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) politics, she asserted that Uhuru deserved respect.
“They must accord the president the respect he deserves,” she said while launching a bridge at Mahigaini village in Mwea, Kirinyaga County.
She urged the residents to be wary of MPs who were calling the president names, adding that no amount of lies would deter Uhuru from campaigning for BBI.
In an apparent reference to DP Ruto, Waiguru posed: “Why does he stand with people who insult his boss?... It must be him who sends them.”
