Nakuru man in hospital after suicide attempt

A father of four, who attempted to kill himself and his family on suspicion that the mother of his children was having an affair, is admitted at a hospital in Nairobi.

According to authorities, the resident of Karagita Estate bought a jerrican of petrol, locked his family in the house and set it on fire.

Karigita location Chief Hussein Guyo, said the 43-year-old man doused himself with the remaining petrol and set himself on fire as members of the public tried to restrain him.

“He had a machete and threatened those who came to rescue the family, but was overpowered before he could set himself ablaze. He was determined to burn the house with his wife and children inside. Members of the public rescued the family, but he set himself on fire," Guyo told The Standard yesterday.
