Ol Pejeta gets another global award

Ol Pejeta Conservancy has scooped another international award at the World Travel Market Responsible Tourism Awards in London. The Laikipia-based conservancy is home to the last two northern white rhinos and was awarded the Judge’s Award for Outstanding Achievement at the event held in London on November 10.

The conservancy has in recent past been recognised for its efforts to improve the environment. The Judges’ Award for Outstanding Achievement is rarely handed out and is only given to organisations who perform highly in a number of areas and have won multiple awards previously, and who continue to be outstanding.

"Ol Pejeta is a strong contender in multiple categories - wildlife, community benefit and reporting. The judges recognise that Ol Pejeta is a global leader in balancing benefits for local communities and wildlife conservation and in delivering responsible tourism; using tourism to make better places for people to live in and ensuring the conservation of wildlife and habitat," the judges said.
