Two people have been arrested for impersonating Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examination (KCSE) candidates in the Coast region, Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang disclosed on Wednesday.

Speaking in Mwatate town, Taita-Taveta County after distributing the KCSE exam papers today morning, the PS warned that the government would firmly deal with few individuals who are out to compromise the ongoing examinations.

Dr Kipsang was accompanied by County Commissioner Rodah Onyancha and top county security committee members.

“KCSE exam in Coast region has been going on smoothly except two cases of impersonation and few cases of pregnancy among female students that have been adequately dealt with. We have had no major challenges in the region and I thank the security and education officials for effectively dealing with issues to do with exam irregularities,” said Dr Kipsang.

In the county, only one female candidate sat for her KCPE exam while in hospital after giving birth.

“The number of pregnancies has substantially gone down because parents, teachers and girls have become more responsible,” he told the press.

At the same time, the PS warned examination centre managers to be keen and not allow cheating in their respective areas.

“The centre managers should not allow impersonation or any form of cheating. The culprits will be dealt with as they are compromising and messing up with the lives of the children,” he warned.
