Guardian beats girl, 17, to death for coming home late

A 30-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly beating to death a 17-year-old girl for coming home late.

According to Suna East OCP Mark Wanjala, the matter was reported at Isbania Police Station in Kuria West sub-county at around 8:30 am by the Deputy Headteacher Tagare Primary School where the girl was learning.

"The teacher reported the matter at the station that a pupil whom he identified as Sophia Kwamboka, a class eight pupil of his school was beaten by her guardian, “Said Wanjala

The suspect who was identified by the officer as Linet Biyaki is accused of allegedly attacking the girl on Sunday evening at their home in Tagare Village in Kuria West sub-county in Migori while accusing her of coming home late.

"Upon responding to the matter police manager to arrested the woman and she was  taken to Isbania police cell waiting to be arraigned," said the officer

Mr. Wanjala, however, said after the assault,  the victim was rushed to Samjomen Hospital in Mabera where she was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The body of the deceased with multiple bodily injuries was later removed to St.Akidiva Mindira Mabera Hospital mortuary awaiting an autopsy.
