Mutua to host round-table forum for international investors

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has gone on a charm offensive to woo international investors to Machakos, this time convening the ‘first-ever’ international round-table forum by a county government.

According to a press release signed by the governor’s press secretary, Mutinda Mwanzia, Mutua is set to host over 25 international organisations at his office in Machakos on Wednesday.

Among the organisations expected to participate in the historic forum include the World Bank, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the British High Commission, the European Union (EU) as well as Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FA0).

Others include Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), USAID, UNEP, UN Women and Zamzam (USA) and the United States African Development Foundation among others.

“This is the first international development partners’ round table meeting to be organised by a county government since the advent of devolution in 2013,” said Mwanzia, who is also the county communications director.

He said the Mutua-led administration invited development partners to invest in areas of security, water, health, infrastructure, enterprise development, and governance.

Since his election as governor, Mutua, riding on his Maendeleo Chap Chap philosophy, has tried to persuade investors to set up businesses in the county to spur growth and development.
