Police arrest man for allegedly killing lover

Police officers in Rongai Sub County have arrested a 33-year-old man who allegedly slit the throat of his lover.

Confirming the arrest, the Sub County Director of Criminal Investigations Dorcas Cherui said the suspect, Ernest Kibet Kemei was arrested in Koru area, Nyanza over the weekend.

Kemei reportedly slit Lucy Njeri’s throat last month, after he suspected that she was having an affair.

Ms Cherui said Kemei confessed to having killed the 45-year-old woman at her house in Sobea, before fleeing.

“We are holding a suspect who allegedly killed a woman he was cohabiting with after he suspected that she was having an affair with another man in the village,” said Cherui.

Njeri’s body was discovered by her neighbors who broke into the house after failing to see her for several days. A knife believed to have been used in the murder was recovered at the scene of crime.

“The deceased’ body had deep cuts and was discovered by neighbors who broke into her house. The body was lying on the bed,” she said.

The suspect will be arraigned tomorrow.
