A body of ten-year-old class three girl at Nyaura Primary School in Kisii Central Sub County was today morning found dumped along a river bank at Nyaura Village Nyaribari Chache.

Family members said that the deceased, Judith Ombati, might have been picked from their house at around 11pm on Monday just after they had shared their supper.

A total orphan, Judith who lost her mother Damaris Bosibori a year ago and her father Omabti Ratemo in 2010 had been sleeping with her twin brother on the same bed.

However, her brother was woken by the strong wind from outside. On waking up at around midnight, he realised the window to their bedroom had been opened and his sister was missing.

He informed his other two brothers aged below 17 years and sleeping in another adjacent bedroom. They together informed their elder brother Brian Ombati who was sleeping in another house in the same compound and they began the search for their sister who was eventually found dead.

The killers used her school going socks to strangle her to death and placed her body on some stone near the river bank.

According to Brian, they together had supper at around 9PM before they proceed to bed. “I don’t understand how the killers got access to the house, I personally ensured that all the windows were closed before I left for my house.”

Kisii Central Sub County Director of Criminal Investigations Martin Korongo told the Standard that they will thoroughly investigate the murder. “The murder incidents in this country are so puzzling, we will not sleep on our job but nab the suspects.”

In mid-April this year, a bruised body of a Standard Eight student, Shyleen Mokeira was found dumped in a thicket at Kionganyo village, Kisii Central.

The deceased is said to have left home around 6pm on the previous evening without announcing her itinerary never to return.

After investigations and several statements form suspects, three people, both all minors were arrested. The three were set to take plea today at Kisii High Court and could be facing murder charges after one of them confessed to have participated in the killing.
