Nyamira Assembly to oust another minister

The Nyamira county assembly will on Monday convene a special sitting to deliberate on impeachment of the Education executive.

According to Gazette Notice number 4281, dated May 14, 2019, Speaker Moffat Teya communicated to MCAs that tabling of a motion for the removal of Education Executive Gladys Momanyi was one of the assembly's two key businesses.

The MCAs are also expected to debate a second Supplementary County Appropriations Bill for the year 2018/2019.

Ms Momanyi is the second member of Governor John Nyagarama's (pictured) government to face ouster  after her Public Service Management counterpart Bernard Osumo.

About six weeks ago, MCAs passed a motion to remove Osumo from office, but the court stopped the process until a case filed by Osumo is heard and determined.

The chairman of the Implementation Committee Charles Barongo (Bomwagamo) and his Ekerenyo ward counterpart Thaddeus Nyabaro said the assembly was determined to "clean" Nyagarama's executive committee.

Speaking to reporters in Nyamira town, Barongo and Nyabaro disclosed that there were three more members who were being targeted for removal over allegations of embezzlement of public funds.
