Rasanga dares EACC to summon him for questioning

Governor Cornel Rasanga (pictured) has dared the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to summon him for questioning over corruption allegations.

The governor said there were reports in the public domain relating to corruption on Siaya County and him, yet EACC had not summoned him.

The governor, who was speaking during the launch of a one-week outreach programme by EACC, said it would be pointless to have EACC and other investigating authorities disturbing him 10 years after he leaves office over corruption allegations.

"I have nothing to hide because I am innocent," he said.

He prodded the commission to raid his office and home to seek the evidence they are looking for.

He further accused EACC officers who visit counties to investigate governors of asking for bribes hence the many unconcluded cases.

EACC vice chair Sophia Lepuchirit said the commission was investigating several issues in Siaya, including fraud on development projects, and would release reports once done.

The commission Chairman Eliud Wabukala is expected to close the outreach programme on Friday.
