One dead, four injured in Kisayani road accident

An accident at Kisayani Market along Kibwezi-Kitui Road on Tuesday has left one person dead and four others seriously injured. The accident happened after the tyre of a car they were travelling in burst causing the vehicle to roll several times.

An eyewitness, Bensline Mathuku said the accident involved a saloon car and the person who died in the accident was a businessman in Kibwezi town.

The car reportedly left Kibwezi town around 2pm and was heading towards Kitui.

Kibwezi sub-county police commander Ben Chagulo said they had received information on the accident and they were in the process of gathering more before moving to the scene.

By the time of going to press, the body was still lying at the scene while the injured had been rushed to Kibwezi sub-county hospital.

Earlier this month, seven people died on the spot while four others were hospitalised following another fatal accident on the same road.

They were later reported to be from a church in Nairobi’s Kayole area.

A section of the road which is under construction has loose chippings hence the self-involving accidents.
